Sagotri Lagna

Gotra defines a clan that traces its origin from Rishis or sages from satyayug. It represents a patriline or an unbroken male hereditary line traced to that of male ancestors. In Hindu families marriage within the same gotra is not encouraged or practiced. Since they are believed to be descendant from same family & such marriage may lead to genetically challenged progeny. The cultural changes our society has gone through along the period from satyayug to kaliyug has made us rethink over this concept of sagotri marriage. Is it really harmful in today's era? one needs to think over it....
